Contest for International Chinese Interactive News Awards 2015

The following Terms and Conditions and any revisions or amendments thereafter imposed from time to time by the Singapore Press Holdings (“SPH”) shall apply to the contest (“Contest”) for the "International Chinese Interactive News Awards 2015" (hereinafter referred to as the “Awards"), conducted and organised by Zaobao.com, co-organised by Fudan University Journalism School, Tsinghua University Journalism and Communication School, Sun Yat-sen University Communication and Design School, and the University of Hong Kong Journalism and Media Studies Centre (hereinafter referred to as "Co-organisers"). The Awards are supported by the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Mass Communication.


Terms & Conditions

• The Awards are open to all current university students, and full-time employees of media organisations. Each participant, university or media organisation may submit more than one entry (the “Entry", or collectively, “Entries”).

• Only works submitted within the period between 4 May 2015 and 30 June 2015 (no later than 2359hrs) will be considered for the Awards. Late submissions will be disqualified.

• Entries may be submitted by individuals, or in a group of no more than THREE (3) persons.

• To participate in the Contest, participants need to submit the Entry via an online form on the official website of the Awards with valid particulars by 30 June 2015 in order to be eligible for prizes.

• The Entries must be able to be presented on the Internet, or mobile devices (such as smartphones, and tablets) or computer.

• Participants may use information from their original reporting, or news and information based on existing news reports as material for their Entries.

• Only information sourced from published news reports by credible media agencies, research papers and official websites of governments, corporations or organisations will be accepted.

• All Entries must attribute sources of information.

• All Entries must contain facts which are true and verified as accurate.

• For Entries that are based on existing news reports, only those reports that were originally published in written, photographic, audio or video formats will be accepted. Participants must have been actively engaged in the interviewing of interviewees for Entries based on original reporting.

• Entries from media organisations must be published and broadcasted between 1 January and 30 June 2015.

• Participants are responsible for obtaining all the requisite rights, clearances and permissions in respect the Entries. SPH assumes no responsibility for violation of copyright laws or any other applicable laws and regulations in respect to such Entries.

• Co-organisers will not entertain requests to edit or revise Entries after 30 June 2015.

• Participants who forward the Awards to third parties do so with the understanding that they are not obliged to do so, and that SPH and co-organisers shall not be responsible for any damage, loss or legal liability, whether directly or indirectly, resulting from such actions.

• All information submitted by participants shall become the property of the Co-organisers, who reserve all rights to use these materials for promotional and marketing purposes. The Co-organisers reserve the rights to publish or display the name, picture, identification card number and city of residence of the participants of this Contest for advertising and publicity purposes.

• The winners of the Contest will be selected based on the computation of scores by a panel of judges except for the award for "The Most Popular Interactive News" which is decided through public voting. The decision of the Co-organisers in the selection of winners shall be final. In the event of any dispute arising therefrom, SPH reserve the rights to award prizes at its sole discretion. Further correspondence will not be entertained.

• Winners are responsible for their own expenses, logistics for travel, accommodation and all other costs and expenses.

• The number of person(s) in the Entries do not affect the judging of the content as there will be no categorisation between individual and group submissions. All prizes to be awarded are based on per entry, and not per pax.

• The judges’ decision on all matters relating to this Contest shall be final and binding on all participants and no correspondence will be entertained.

• Finalists may be filmed, photographed, and/or interviewed before, during and/or after the Awards. SPH reserves all rights to use these recorded materials for promotional and marketing purposes, and by submitting your Entry, you expressly consent to such use by SPH.

• SPH and its subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, authorised dealers/distributors, agents, officers and/or employees shall not be liable for any safe custody, return, non-delivery, late delivery or missing of entries, late, due to misdirected or unavailable network, server or other connections or technical failures.

• For all Entries submitted online, in the event of any corruption, disruption and/or other failure of the administration and/or security of the server as a result of any virus, bug or other cause beyond SPH’s control, SPH reserves the right to cancel and/or suspend such Entries.

• By participating in the Contest, participants hereby agree and consent to the competition terms and conditions, and to the SPH collecting, using and disclosing the personal data which you have submitted, and sharing such personal data amongst themselves, for the purpose of contacting you via mail, electronic transmission (eg. e-mail), SMS, telephone, and other means of communication (whether via your Singapore telephone numbers or otherwise) to inform you about their products and services.

• Prize(s) are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

• If Prizes are not redeemed within one (1) month from date of notification, SPH reserves the right to select another winner at its sole discretion.

• SPH reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without prior notification.

• SPH reserves all rights to substitute the publicized prizes with other prizes of similar commercial value, at their sole discretions, and its decisions on all matters relating to the Contest shall be final and binding. Winners list will be published on zaobao.com/interactivenews

• By taking part in the Contest, the participants agree to accept all of the above rules and regulations.
